Elastomer is one visco-elasticity polymer which as opposed to common plastics that may be permanently deformed, are able to revert to their original state after being exerted by strain within a certain extent. There are six catalogues: TPE-S and SBC (styrene series), TPO (polyolefin series), TPV (vulcanized rubbers), TPU (polyurethane series), TPE-E (polyester series) and TPE-A (polyamide series). Elastomers can be used to lower noises of vehicles, damp, increase useful lifespan of rails and provide industrial usages such as waterproofing, fluid transporting, filling, etc. In order to reduce degradation by long-term sunlight exposure, deterioration caused by rainwater, air, oily agents, acids and bases agents, adding appropriate UV absorbers and HALS can enhance product shelf life and reduce problems like yellowing and loss of mechanical properties.
